Statement on Tuesday’s Law Enforcement Activity in Hudson and Stow

HUDSON / STOW – Tuesday evening’s dramatic law enforcement manhunt and high-speed pursuit of a Canton suspect wanted for attempted murder left a lasting impact on our communities. Our thoughts are with everyone who witnessed these frightening events, especially those who were injured and the families affected by the suspect’s actions.

We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the U.S. Marshals, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Parks Police, Hudson Police, and Stow Police for their courage, professionalism, and swift response in apprehending the 39-year-old suspect. Their dedication to protecting our communities, often at great personal risk, helped bring a dangerous situation to a close and prevented what could have been an even more tragic outcome.

We are equally grateful to the firefighters and emergency medical personnel who responded with compassion and urgency. Our sincere thanks go to Hudson Fire and EMS for providing critical care at the multi-vehicle crash on State Route 91 and Terex Road during the early stages of the pursuit. We also thank the Canton Police and Stow Fire for their response to the takedown scene at Bunker Lane and Saybrooke Boulevard, where the suspect’s carjacked minivan overturned a Metro Parks Police cruiser.

While Tuesday night's events captured the attention of our entire community, they also serve as a reminder that law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel confront dangerous and unpredictable situations every day. We are grateful for their unwavering commitment to keeping our communities safe, and we appreciate the sacrifices they make in service to others.
