Craig Shubert. A Bold. Principled. Leader.

The Right Man. At the Right Time. For Ohio House District 34.

Craig Shubert in front of American Flag

Craig Shubert is running for State Representative in Ohio’s 34th House District, serving the residents of Hudson, Stow, Munroe Falls, Tallmadge, Silver Lake, and sections of Akron. He is known for his leadership, conservative values, and the courage to stand up for what matters.

From Mayor of Hudson to Candidate for State Representative

In 2019, Craig Shubert was elected mayor of Hudson on a platform of transparency, accountability, and commonsense governance. His election was notable as he became the first mayor elected without prior service on city council and the first to unseat a sitting mayor in the city’s 220-year history.

Craig used his time as mayor to focus on practical issues that impact daily life: improving infrastructure, enhancing rail and roadway safety, and keeping government spending in check. He also supported local businesses during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leadership Through Personal and Public Challenges

During his time in office, Craig lost his wife of nearly 22 years to cancer. He continued to serve his community during a deeply difficult time. Days after her passing, he took a public stand on issues affecting students and families, speaking out against the inappropriate sexual content in local schools. The moment drew international attention, but for many locals it reflected a willingness to boldly address difficult issues head on.

Experience Beyond Local Government

Before entering public office, Craig Shubert began his career in journalism. While at Iowa State University, he was writing professionally for The Associated Press and United Press International. His work caught the eye of then-Congressman Charles Grassley (R-IA) – now president pro tempore of the United States Senate – who offered Craig a position on Capitol Hill. He later worked as a television news reporter, contributing to the broadcast networks,  including ABC, CNN, and NBC.

He went on to become a global business development leader and growth strategist, working with companies ranging from entrepreneurial ventures to Fortune 500 organizations. His work took him to more than 30 countries and included projects ranging from establishing foreign operating units to placing product aboard the U.S. Space Shuttle Discovery and the Russian Space Station Mir.
